The DOJO brings in the Trophies – AGAIN!

20 members of the Rochdale based The DOJO Karate Centre (Castlemere St) returned from their 2nd outing in 2014 from Batley in March with 42 trophies bringing the total to 83 trophies over just 2 events. The UKNAS competition was very well organised as always. However, The DOJO’s Head coach Sensei Irfan Ansari has decided to allow less experienced members to enter the UK Competition scene and allow the ELITE Squad to focus more on the European and World Championships preparations. Sensei Ansari said ‘It will also save them a huge sum of money as no funding is available to goto the World Champs and we rely on donations/sponsorships from local businesses each year. The money saved can go towards their World Champs fund. It would be great to see Rochdale Council play some role in finding funding for our athletes who go each and every year with no contribution from them at all! Yet our athletes return with amazing results year upon year from the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS! So much work goes on behind the scenes by our dedicated volunteers to help raise funds but our athletes always feel stressed knowing they have the talent to win World medals but not have the finances to go! So if there is anyone out there who can help in any way then please get in touch with us.’

Best performance were from Jack Jolliffe, Katie Eccles and little Marky Craven. Asad Rana, who usually performs very well had to pull out due to injury.
