Tea DOJO returned from the Midland Open Martial Arts Competition last SUN with 32 Golds, 33 Silvers, and 27 Bronze medals. These medallists will now be invited to attend the Selection for next year's World Champs (in Dubai).
Sensei Irfan Ansari also returned to competition after 10 years in order to qualify for World Champs. He won 1 Gold and 1 Silver. He was beaten by his son Sensei Isshaaq Ansari by 0.1 marks in the Weapons Kata which was amazing to see - after all they have 36yrs between them! After their event they hugged and kissed to the delight of the clapping audience - it was a moment to symbolise the passing of knowledge from Instructor (and father) to Disciple (and son).
Also Sensei Jacki returned to competition after 22yrs at the request of her daughter Isla, winning 2 Bronze medals on the way!
Amazing performance from Sensei Huseyn winning 3 Golds, and from Brooke Rowan winning 3 Golds and 1 Silver on the way of receiving a bruised/broken rib - but she's a tough cookie!
Everyone performed really well. However, hose going to the European Champs in London in AUG need to pull their socks up and raise their game as the standard will be a lot higher.
Most medals were won by Ayesha Rafiq who got 2 Golds, 2 Silvers and 2 Bronze.
Well done to all parents who took their families down and to all who helped out with coaching and supporting each other on and off the mats.
