Last SUN at the GBMAT Team National Squad Training in Kettering HUSEYN MIKAYILOV was appointed by the Head National Coach Chris Hemstock, as the male Captain for the upcoming EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS being held in London on 3rd-4th AUG 2024.
Sensei Irfan Ansari said 'This is AMAZING NEWS for The DOJO KARATE CENTRE and for ROCHDALE. I mean how many Karate Clubs do you know of where the Head Coach is a National Coach and his pupil is the Captain of the country! This just goes to show that high ranking martial artists in the game fully recognise the work we are doing, and the standard of what do is clearly very high - although there is always room for improvement!'
'Huseyn, despite suffering from a serious and recurring shoulder injury for the last 3yrs, has always worked hard in perfecting his skills. His motivation has remains strong with my guidance and support that helped him realise the long term goals and has kept him positive. Being given the chance to qualify as a coach and then to coach has taught him much more about the different types of people we deal with everyday. Most of all, he has spent many hours in solitude training at The DOJO reinforcing his learning and in discovering different training methods, new techniques and tactics to excel himself. This coupled with the respect he always shows and the often mischievous jokes he plays makes him the ideal person to lead Team GB in the upcoming European Champs in AUG.
